Brokered by SA’s leading sports marketing company MEGAPRO, Unilever South Africa and The South African Rugby Union (SARU) have announced a deal that sees Unilever joining the Springbok sponsorship family as an Associate Sponsor to the Springbok team in the Male Grooming category.
With the signing of the agreement, Unilever’s Shield brand is now the ‘Official Deodorant of the Springboks’, while Vaseline is the ‘Official Skincare partner of the Springboks’. “Through the Vaseline and the Shield brands, Unilever seeks to meet the grooming needs of men, and nowhere is the efficacy of a grooming product put to the test more, than on the sports field,” said Marijn van Tiggelen, Chairman of Unilever South Africa.
This sponsorship is also in line with Unilever’s target of doubling its business while reducing its environmental impact.
“Unilever has been in South Africa for over 100 years and we are proud to show our support for the Springboks,” added van Tiggelen.
Mark Alexander, the SARU Deputy President, said that the organisation was delighted to welcome such a household name to the Springboks’ sponsorship portfolio.
David Jenkins, MEGAPRO Marketing CEO commented, “We are extremely proud to have played a role in the formation of this new sponsorship association which unites an established and iconic organisation such as Unilever with the Springbok brand.”
